Sail Canada Basic Cruising Standard

The objective of this course is to provide novice sailors with the necessary skills to safely day cruise in local waters in moderate winds.

Competencies developed will enable students to skipper or become a crew member using a 24’ fixed-keel sailboat.

This 25-30 hour course delivered over 6 weeks is divided into two parts:

Afloat Skills
(practical) during which you are given instruction and demonstrate your sailing ability at the helm and on the water.

Ashore Knowledge
(theory) during which you learn sailing theory, rules of the water, and terminology.

Cost: $385+HST

• Family discounts are available
• Text book and other printed material are included.

Dates - Courses are scheduled during the months of May, June, July, and August. Times and dates will be determined to best accommodate students and instructors.
