A Brief History of Cedar Island Yacht Club

Nestled on the northern shore of Lake Erie, Cedar Island Yacht Club (CIYC) has been a vibrant part of the Kingsville waterfront since its founding in 1972. As the southernmost yacht club in Canada, CIYC offers a unique boating experience with a strong sense of community and a spirit of cooperation.

More than just a marina, CIYC is a member-driven, not-for-profit co-operative, where members contribute their time and skills to maintain the club, organize social events, and serve on the Executive Board. This hands-on approach fosters a tight-knit community and ensures that all membership dues are reinvested directly into enhancing the club’s facilities and infrastructure.

In 2019, CIYC was proud to be recognized by Sail Canada as the 'Best Club', a testament to its commitment to sailing excellence, member engagement, and community outreach.

The club is also an enthusiastic supporter of local events, participating in initiatives like Explore the Shore, Cop Camp, and volunteering for Tall Ships—bringing people together on and off the water.
